
BANJARBARU (TABIRkota) – Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Kalsel), Indonesia, will serve 6,758 prospective Hajj pilgrims during the 2026/1447 Hijriyah Hajj season.
Stephanus Millyas Wardana, General Manager (GM) of Syamsudin Noor International Airport, stated that the 6,758 prospective pilgrims from South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan (Kalteng), will be divided into 19 flight groups (kloter).
"The first group is scheduled to depart on April 24 at 12:05 a.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time), flying with Garuda Indonesia on a 364-seat Airbus A330," he said in Banjarbaru, the capital of South Kalimantan, on Wednesday (April 15).
He confirmed that all screening procedures, including security and immigration clearance, will be conducted at the Hajj Dormitory.
“From there (the Hajj Dormitory), prospective Hajj pilgrims will be transported directly to the Syamsudin Noor International Airport by bus via the airside," he said.
To board the aircraft, Wardana explained, prospective Hajj pilgrims will be directed through the jet bridge (boarding bridge) for convenience.
"We have also prepared Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) personnel who will be on standby 24 hours a day and actively coordinate with relevant stakeholders for any emergencies," he added.
Currently, the management of Syamsudin Noor International Airport continues to refine technical preparations and provide maximum service for Hajj flights.
Completed stages include Internal Meetings, Maintenance, Ramp Checks and Inspections, and External Meetings.
The final preparations will involve the inauguration of the Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH), followed by the Second External Meeting, Installation, Ramp Check Orientation and Simulation, leading up to Departure Dates.
The entire series of Hajj flight preparations is expected to maximize services at Syamsudin Noor International Airport for the comfort and safety of prospective pilgrims departing for the Holy Land, Makkah. (ra)
