BANJARBARU (TABIRkota) – Batik Air Malaysia has officially launched a flight route connecting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Kalsel), Indonesia.
Yudi Harry Prasetyo, Acting General Manager of Syamsudin Noor International Airport, stated that Batik Air Malaysia’s inaugural flight arrived at the airport in Banjarbaru on Sunday (Sept 20) at 21:40 Central Indonesian Time (WITA).
"Batik Air Malaysia’s inaugural flight utilized a Boeing 737-800 aircraft carrying 88 passengers," he said in a written statement received by TABIRkota.com on Monday (Sept 21).
As a warm welcome upon arrival in the "Bumi Lambung Mangkurat" (an alternative name for Banjarmasin), the aircraft—bearing registration number 9M/LNM—was greeted with a water salute ceremony performed by the Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting team.
Yudi Harry Prasetyo expressed the enthusiasm of Syamsudin Noor International Airport’s management regarding the arrival of Batik Air Malaysia, which is now serving the Banjarmasin-Kuala Lumpur route.
"We hope that this flight will make it easier for travelers to find flights that suit their needs," said Yudi Harry Prasetyo.
On Monday (Sept 21) at 11:05 WITA, the Batik Air Malaysia aircraft performed its first takeoff from Syamsudin Noor International Airport.
He added that 135 passengers had the privilege of witnessing this inaugural BDJ-KUL journey.
"As a gesture of appreciation and to showcase the distinctive arts and culture of South Kalimantan, cabin crew representatives and passengers were presented with "sasirangan" fabric scarves," he added.
It is hoped that the Kuala Lumpur–Banjarmasin flight route will continue to operate, facilitating seamless international connectivity through direct flights. (rls/ra)
