BANJARBARU (TABIRkota) – Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) officially began its inaugural flight, the Banjarmasin (BDJ)-Kuala Lumpur (KUL) route.
The inauguration of the new route began with an iconic water salute welcoming AirAsia flight AK-442 at Syamsudin Noor Airport on Monday (October 20th).
The A320-300 aircraft arrived at 9:30 a.m. Central Indonesian Time (WITA) carrying 79 passengers.
Syamsudin Noor International Airport General Manager Stephanus Millyas Wardana said he was very grateful that the Banjarmasin-Kuala Lumpur route had finally been realized.
“This first international flight at Syamsudin Noor International Airport is a sign of the synergy and enthusiasm of various parties in advancing South Kalimantan on the global stage,” he said.
The inauguration ceremony for this international route also featured a cultural performance, featuring the traditional Banjar dance, the Japin Sigam Dance, for passengers arriving from Malaysia.
He stated that arrived passengers were also given Sasirangan cloth garlands and souvenirs as a warm welcome to Banjarmasin
“We express our appreciation and gratitude for the hard work and synergy of all parties, which ensured the smooth running of today’s Inaugural Flight,” he said.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of Sasirangan cloth garlands to the passengers departing for Malaysia on flight AK-441
At 11:00 a.m. WITA, 172 passengers departed for Kuala Lumpur, accompanied by the Japin Persembahan dance.
It is hoped that the Banjarmasin-Kuala Lumpur route, which commenced operations today, will continue to operate smoothly and ensure safety throughout each journey. (ra)
