BARABAI (TABIRkota) – The Regent of Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), South Kalimantan (Kalsel) H Aulia Oktafiandi carried out the initial planting of hybrid corn seeds as an effort to maintain food security in the region.
The first planting together with the HST Police Chief, Head of the local Agriculture Service, Forkopimcam, and Pambakal (Village Head), was carried out in Awang Village, North Batang Alai District, Thursday (18/7).
H Aulia Oktafiandi said that the initial planting was also intended to increase the planting index through activities to develop aid for hybrid corn seeds in 2024.
“The initial planting also aims to increase production and added value, income, and welfare of farmers,” he said.
The HST Regency Government (Pemkab), he said, sees a large amount of empty land as the potential that can be developed.
“Because of this, the HST Regency Government took the initiative to assist with hybrid corn seeds which are known to be strong, able to survive, and easy to market,” he said.
The regional government, he said, does not ask for anything from the community, it only wants the best so that businesses run smoothly and produce results.
“We invite farmers to be serious and earnest in utilizing the assistance provided by the government to produce good results,” he said.
On this occasion, 100 sacks of NPK fertilizer were also handed over to the Association of Farmer Groups (Gapoktan) Building Awang Village and the Telaga Farmer Group (Poktan), Jaranih, Pandawan District, 75 sacks and 25 sacks respectively.
