BARABAI (TABIRKota) — The Regent of Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), South Kalimantan (Kalsel), H Aulia Oktafiandi inaugurated new facilities at the Haji Damanhuri Hospital (RSHD) Barabai to minimize child mortality.
The new facilities, in the form of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit or PICU, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or NICU, and Perinatology rooms, were inaugurated on Tuesday (26/3).
According to H Aulia Oktafiandi, the inauguration of these facilities is an anticipatory step against undesirable things.
“Health facilities must be prepared so that children experiencing critical conditions receive the best service,” he said.
With a large HST population, he said, RSHD Barabai can provide answers to current challenges through adequate facilities.
“The presence of PICU, NICU, and Perinatology facilities is a manifestation of RSHD Barabai as a referral hospital in Banua Anam,” he said.
The NICU room is an intensive care unit for babies with certain conditions that require special care, such as premature birth, respiratory distress, and others.
Meanwhile, the PICU is an intensive care room for children who need treatment, while Perinatology is a room that specializes in medical science related to fetal life.
H Aulia Oktafiandi added that the presence of health support facilities must be balanced with potential Human Resources (HR).
“This is of course a step for the government to provide better services,” said H Aulia Oktafiandi.
