
BANJARBARU (TABIRkota) – Syamsudin Noor International Airport, operated by Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), has opened a direct flight from Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) to Samarinda, East Kalimantan (Kaltim).
Syamsudin Noor International Airport General Manager, Stephanus Millyas Wardana, stated that the opening of the new route was marked by the inaugural flight from Samarinda to Banjarmasin on Friday (October 3).
“The inaugural flight was marked with a water salute for Wings Air flight IW1480, traveling from Samarinda (AAP) to Banjarmasin (BDJ) at 1:45 p.m. Central Indonesian Time (WITA),” he said.
The flight, operated by an ATR72 aircraft, carried 38 passengers, who were greeted with sasirangan cloth garlands.
“The presence of the new Samarinda (AAP) – Banjarmasin (BDJ) route is one of our synergy efforts with airlines to improve intra-Kalimantan air connectivity,” he said.
He added that this route is expected to bridge economic growth between regions in Kalimantan.
“We are optimistic that connecting the two regional capitals, Samarinda and Banjarbaru, will facilitate the exchange of information and business travel for the advancement of both regions,” he added.
The Samarinda-Banjarmasin route is scheduled to operate daily from Syamsudin Noor International Airport.
The Banjarmasin (BDJ) to Samarinda (AAP) route departs at 6:50 a.m. Central Indonesian Time (WITA) and the return flight from Samarinda (AAP) to Banjarmasin (BDJ) at 11:15 a.m. Central Indonesian Time (WITA). (ra)
