BANJARBARU (TABIRkota) – The South Kalimantan Provincial Government through its Education and Culture Office is continuing a program called the “GSMS” (Gerakan Seni Masuk Sekolah; Arts Entering Schools) as an effort to provide deeper learning on skills and arts for students in the province.
The GSMS was given to students of public vocational school of SMK Negeri 1 Banjarbaru, yesterday, Friday (18/10).
Raudati Hildayati, Head of Culture at the South Kalimantan Education and Culture Office, said that the GSMS is an effort to instill and increase insight into works of art among students.
“This is to strengthen the character of students, and also as an effort to protect, utilize and develop our culture. We must able to attract students’ interest in loving our art,” Ms Hildayati, representing Head of South Kalimantan Education and Culture Office, Muhammadun, explained.
D Sunjaya Adhiarso, Head of the Arts Section, explained in more detail that several materials or lessons in the field of fine arts given to students at SMK Negeri 1 Banjarbaru consisted of metal crafts, ceramic crafts, and design and production.
“These lessons have been given for two weeks since the beginning of October,” Mr Sunjaya explained.
Several teachers brought in by South Kalimantan Education and Culture Office to provide these lessons consisted of Muslim Anang Abdullan (painting artist), Endro Budi Raharjo (metal crafts), Bejo Santoso (ceramic crafts), and R Sri Widodo who is known as a teacher of design and creative craft products.
Sunjaya further hopes that the GSMS will increase students’ knowledge and insight in more depth regarding the art lessons they have received at school.
