BARABAI (TABIRkota) – The District Government (Pemkab) of Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), South Kalimantan (Kalsel) is intensifying the Education Movement and Providing Nutritious Food for Students or GENIUS in Elementary Schools (SD) to support the realization of a golden generation in 2045.
Regent of HST, H Aulia Oktafiandi said that the GENIUS program, which is being intensified through the local Food Security and Fisheries Service (DKPP), is targeting elementary school students because in 2045 they will enter productive age.
“GENIUS is a food and nutrition intervention effort carried out by the HST Regency Government to prepare a healthy and quality generation,” he said when attending the launch of the GENIUS program at SDN 2 Tilang, Tilang Village, North Batang Alai District, Monday (5/8).
The GENIUS program, he said, is implemented with an educational approach and provides nutritious food from animal protein sources in the form of meat, fish, eggs, and milk.
“Through the implementation of the GENIUS program, it is hoped that children will have better knowledge about the importance of balanced nutrition,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of DKPP HST, Muhammad Afni Hidayat, said there are two main themes in the GENIUS program: the education movement and providing nutritious food.
“In South Kalimantan, HST’s new GENIUS is implementing it, considering the importance of improving the quality of human resources through implementing this program,” he said.
According to him, throughout 2024 the GENIUS program will be implemented in 12 elementary schools spread across six villages in four sub-districts in HST, including at SDN 1 and SDN 2 Telang.
“Children targeted by the GENIUS program will be given nutritious food 10 times,” he said.
With the GENIUS program, it is hoped that we can create a generation of quality human resources to build HST into a prosperous, superior, and dynamic district.
